Flare Audio Achieves Royal Honor for Innovation

The UK tech firm Flare Audio has been granted the esteemed King’s Award for Enterprise, recognizing its groundbreaking product, Calmer. This in-ear device reduces overwhelming sounds, fostering a more peaceful experience and alleviating noise-related anxiety.

Celebrated for crafting state-of-the-art audio solutions, the award-winning company has launched various technologies that enhance listening experiences. The King’s Award underscores Flare’s expertise in innovation, especially for Calmer, which lessens the stress caused by disruptive sounds without the isolating effect of earplugs.

Calmer functions by adjusting the ear’s internal acoustics to soften high-frequency noise. It provides relief from travel-induced sounds such as sirens and tube screeches, bustling settings, and everyday interruptions like eating sounds. Crucially, it offers considerable advantages for those with sound sensitivities, including individuals with autism or ADHD. The newest addition to their offerings, Calmer Performance, enhances focus, reduces distractions, and lowers stress, making it particularly popular among office workers and commuters.

Since 2007, Flare, co-founded by Davies and Naomi Roberts, has a team of 20 and enjoys support from esteemed artists and producers for its high-quality earphones. The company caters to a worldwide clientele in 186 countries, boasting over 4 million social media followers. Notable advocates include Stephen Fry, producer Tony Visconti, and BBC DJ Chris Hawkins.

Davies Roberts, Flare’s Co-Founder and Product Inventor, is scheduled to participate in a Royal Reception at Windsor Castle hosted by His Majesty The King in June. Furthermore, a formal award presentation will take place at Flare’s headquarters in Lancing, conducted by the King’s representative, the Lord-Lieutenant.

“I’m genuinely honored to have one of my inventions acknowledged by the King,” stated Davies Roberts. “Naomi and I launched Flare with the goal of developing impactful sound technologies. Our journey started with reinventing loudspeakers, evolving into innovative products that help ease the stress of everyday noises. Being awarded for an invention that creates a difference is the dream of every inventor.”
