Newcastle-based Cybit has sold its enterprise-grade security division, Cybit Cyber, to Viatel Technology, a digital service provider headquartered in Dublin. Cybit, known for its data intelligence and AI-driven technology solutions, is now concentrating on delivering customised technology solutions and services to the mid-market corporate and SME segments. The divestment allows both Cybit and Cybit Cyber to pursue growth strategies that are best aligned with their respective markets and customer needs.
Cybit currently operates in 18 regions across five countries, leveraging 30 years of industry and technology experience. Despite the divestment, Cybit and Cybit Cyber will continue to collaborate where opportunities arise, ensuring continuity and value for their customers.
“This decision marks a significant milestone in Cybit’s evolution,” said James Hunnybourne, Executive Chair of Cybit. “By focusing our efforts on our core mid-market strategy, we are better positioned to deliver innovation and value to our customers. We are proud of the legacy and expertise built within Cybit Cyber and are confident that under Viatel’s leadership, the team will continue to thrive. We remain committed to supporting our customers, partners, and employees throughout this transition and look forward to future collaboration opportunities.”
Paul Rellis, CEO of Viatel Technology Group, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Cybit Cyber into the Viatel family. Its deep expertise in enterprise-grade cybersecurity perfectly complements our existing capabilities and strengthens our position as a trusted digital transformation partner. This acquisition reinforces our commitment to delivering secure, scalable, and innovative solutions to businesses across Ireland and beyond.”
