Social and human capital data company Denominator has announced the acquisition of gender equality and diversity data provider Equileap. This strategic move aims to establish Denominator as a global leader in human capital data.
Founded in 2021 and based in New York, Denominator offers information to help businesses and investors address people-related issues in investments, procurement, and corporate strategy. The company maintains a comprehensive database covering millions of public and private companies worldwide, providing detailed insights into diversity, human rights, health and safety, labour practices, and workforce dynamics.
Equileap, headquartered in Amsterdam and founded in 2016, equips investors with data to evaluate companies on a wide range of diversity and inclusion criteria. These include metrics on gender balance, pay gaps, parental leave policies, anti-harassment frameworks, discrimination controversies, and support for gender diverse employees. Equileap’s offerings feature a Gender Equality Scorecard, which assigns scores and rankings to evaluated companies.
According to Denominator, the newly combined entity will offer data on 5.5 million companies and over 1,800 data points to businesses and investors. This includes serving more than half of the world’s 20 largest asset managers. Denominator highlighted that while investors have developed mature frameworks for integrating climate and biodiversity considerations into their decisions, there remains a gap in assessing human capital across portfolio companies and supply chains.
Anders Rodenberg, CEO of Denominator, stated, “This acquisition marks a pivotal moment. In the age of AI, access to specialised, high-integrity data is critical. Integrating Equileap’s leading gender equality dataset strengthens Denominator’s ability to deliver smarter, actionable human capital insights – empowering investors to align capital with both values and returns.”
As part of the acquisition, Equileap co-founder and CEO Diana van Maasdijk will assume the role of Chief Commercial Officer at Denominator. Equileap COO Lotte van der Stelt will take on the additional role of Chief Operating Officer at Denominator, overseeing operations across both companies to ensure continuity and alignment.
Van Maasdijk commented, “Equileap was founded to close the workplace equality gap – for everyone, everywhere. By joining Denominator and their AI infrastructure, we will accelerate that vision, broadening our reach and deepening our impact where it matters most.”
