Achmea Investment Management, the investment arm of the Netherlands-based insurance and financial services company Achmea, has announced the launch of the “Achmea IM PE Partnership Fund – Healthy People & Planet 2025.” This new private equity fund targets investments in key impact areas such as climate change, biodiversity, healthy nutrition, and good health.
The fund is primarily aimed at Dutch pension funds and other institutional investors, providing them with cost-effective access to private equity investments that align with the objective of fostering a healthier society. Achmea has set a target size of €250 million for the fund and has already secured €225 million in capital commitments for its initial close.
The fund is designed to deliver market-rate investment returns while simultaneously achieving positive social and environmental impacts. Eligible companies for investment are those demonstrating a measurable positive contribution alongside attractive risk and return profiles.
Maureen Schlejen, Chair of the Achmea IM Board, stated, “There is enormous interest in impact investing among our clients, and we’re proud to have set up this impact fund with them. Collaboration is key as far as we’re concerned: it accelerates impact and increases scale. This fund offers pension funds and other institutional investors the opportunity to contribute to the goal of healthy people in a healthy society at a return that is in keeping with market rates.”
Achmea has appointed Neuberger Berman Private Markets as the investment partner for the fund. The first investments are anticipated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025.
