Deutsche Bank Investment Bank has announced the appointment of Esra Turk to the newly established position of Global Head of Sustainable Finance. Turk will lead the bank’s sustainable finance operations, building on her experience of over four years at Deutsche Bank, where she most recently served as Head of CEEMEA Institutional Client Group and Chair of the Investment Bank for the Middle East & Africa. Before joining Deutsche Bank in 2021, Turk held several senior roles at Barclays Investment Bank, including Head of Emerging Markets Origination for EMEA and the Americas, and Chairman of Middle East North Africa.
Deutsche Bank’s investment banking division has been pivotal in driving the bank’s sustainable finance volumes, achieving €253 billion in sustainable financing since 2020. This accounts for over half of the bank’s goal to reach €500 billion in sustainable financing and investment volumes by 2025. The bank also reported its strongest sustainable finance quarter in four years, according to its recently released Q2 2025 results.
Jörg Eigendorf, Deutsche Bank’s Chief Sustainability Officer, highlighted the potential in emerging markets, where there is a growing demand for renewable energy and a need for infrastructure development. He praised Turk’s deep client insights and her experience in running FIC Coverage in Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, expressing confidence in her ability to elevate the bank’s sustainable finance initiatives globally.
