EIS becomes first cloud-native insurer to secure AI ethics certification

EIS achieves ISO 42001 certification for AI governance leadership. The cloud-native insurance platform provider is the first in its category to receive the new global standard for AI management systems, reinforcing its commitment to ethical, accountable AI deployment in the insurance sector.


EIS has become the first cloud-native insurance core platform provider to achieve ISO/IEC 42001 certification — the world’s first international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS).

The standard, published in December 2023 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), sets a globally recognised benchmark for responsible AI governance. It addresses critical areas such as transparency, bias mitigation, data protection, and organisational accountability. EIS’s certification was awarded by CPSI Certifications following an independent audit and supported by CyberGuard Advantage LLP for engagement and SOC services.

The certification strengthens EIS’s position in the evolving insurance technology landscape, where regulatory and ethical scrutiny of AI is intensifying. In Europe, the newly adopted EU AI Act will begin enforcement in 2026, placing stricter obligations on AI developers and deployers in high-impact sectors like finance and healthcare.

EIS said the audit confirmed that its practices align with the ISO 42001 requirements, particularly in organisational awareness, data governance, and information security posture. “This certification supports the company’s efforts to further strengthen its risk assessment practices amid the rapid evolution of AI technologies,” added Dennis Cunanan, Managing Director of CPSI Certifications.

The company’s core platform, EIS OneSuite™, is built to be event-driven and cloud-native, enabling insurers to integrate and operationalise AI across their entire value chain — from underwriting and claims to customer engagement. The ISO 42001 milestone adds to its suite of existing ISO and SOC credentials and reflects a broader industry push for ethical AI adoption.

The move also places EIS among a small but growing number of early adopters. In March 2025, Microsoft confirmed that Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat successfully attained ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification following a multi-month audit. Insight Assurance was also recently accredited to certify organisations against the standard — a sign of expected demand as regulations tighten
