Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Ajneet Jassey as its new Group Ambassador for London, a role designed to support the organisation’s mission to help Britain prosper across its nations and regions.
The appointment places a senior legal and governance leader at the centre of Lloyds’ engagement with policymakers, businesses, charities, and community organisations across the capital. In the role, Jassey will focus on priorities including affordable housing delivery, supporting business growth, and developing London’s technology ecosystem, with particular attention on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence.
As Group Ambassador for London, Jassey will work with local stakeholders to identify practical interventions where the bank can have measurable impact. This includes championing initiatives already underway, such as Lloyds’ partnership with the Royal Foundation’s Homewards programme to deliver new homes in Lambeth, alongside the Small Sites Aggregator initiative operating in Lewisham. The scheme brings together small, disused brownfield plots to support housing development at greater scale.
The ambassador role is intended to provide a direct link between Lloyds Banking Group and London’s civic, commercial, and voluntary sectors, enabling the bank to respond more closely to the city’s evolving economic and social needs. Alongside existing projects, Jassey will engage with stakeholders across London’s boroughs to identify further opportunities aligned with local priorities.
A lifelong Londoner, Jassey brings more than 15 years of experience in banking and public institutions to the role. She joined Lloyds Banking Group in 2021, following a 13-year career at the Bank of England, where she held a number of senior positions.
She will continue alongside the ambassador role as General Counsel, Disputes and Operations at Lloyds Banking Group, overseeing material litigation, contentious issues, and legal operations. Jassey is also a trustee of the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales and has played a longstanding role in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the financial sector.
Her previous work includes serving as founder sponsor of the Finance and Legal Ethnicity Community at Lloyds Banking Group and as co-chair of the Bank of England’s Black and Ethnic Minority Network.
Commenting on her appointment, Jassey said: “For me, London is simply the best city in the world. It has incredible businesses and communities, and as someone who is proud to be from West London, taking on this role is a special opportunity.
“I look forward to bringing that experience to London and getting out across the boroughs to meet with the businesses, charities, and policymakers seeking to tackle the city’s challenges and make the most of its many opportunities.”
Jassey is a qualified solicitor-advocate and studied at Brunel University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, football, reading, gardening, and travel.
