HPE unveils AI-powered network security and data protection

HPE debuts AI-powered network security and backup at Black Hat. The integrated security and data protection portfolio features an AI-based SASE copilot and enterprise-scale backup. The new tools aim to deliver unified, zero-trust protection and automated recovery for complex IT environments.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has unveiled a suite of AI-powered security and data protection tools at Black Hat USA 2025, positioning the company at the forefront of enterprise cyber defence following its acquisition of Juniper Networks. Among the new offerings is an AI-based Secure Access Service Edge copilot for HPE Aruba Networking EdgeConnect, designed to provide real-time insights into network activity, security gaps, and patch management. According to HPE, the new copilot enables IT teams to make faster, more confident decisions that improve both network performance and security outcomes.

Alongside the SASE copilot, HPE has expanded Aruba Networking Central NAC to deliver granular zero-trust policy enforcement not only across its own devices but also on newly acquired Juniper equipment and third-party hardware. This allows enterprises to apply identity-based access controls and segment users and devices across mixed-vendor environments.

In data protection, HPE has introduced the Alletra Storage MP X10000 platform, a scale-out, all-flash object storage solution optimised for AI workloads and enterprise backup. The company claims backup speeds of up to 1.2 petabytes per hour, with instant recovery for mission-critical data. HPE Zerto Software is also launching an integration hub, with CrowdStrike as the initial partner, linking real-time threat detection with automated cyber recovery and business continuity processes.

HPE frames these announcements as a strategic move toward a unified, multi-layered zero-trust security architecture that spans networking, storage, and cyber resilience. This Black Hat launch is the first public presentation of an integrated Aruba and Juniper portfolio, reflecting the company’s ambition to offer AI-driven security from the edge to the cloud. The developments also address growing enterprise demand for cohesive backup and security workflows in sectors with significant compliance and risk exposure.

The new Alletra Storage MP X10000 is available immediately, while the Zerto integration hub is set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. HPE’s latest portfolio targets customers looking to streamline cyber defence and data recovery with automation and intelligence built into the core of their IT operations.
