Skybound Wealth has appointed former professional footballer Jamie Proctor as Head of Athletes & Creators, giving him responsibility for the growth and daily management of a specialist financial advisory service. The appointment follows expansion of the division since its establishment in August 2025.
Proctor joined Skybound in September 2025 as the division’s first private wealth adviser after a career in professional football. He holds the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and will continue advising clients alongside his new management duties.
The Athletes & Creators division focuses on professional sportspeople, content creators and their families, whose earnings and financial requirements may be affected by contracts, international careers and income that can vary sharply over time.
Proctor is responsible for developing the advisory team, supporting recruitment and strengthening relationships with organisations across sport and digital media. The position brings defined operational accountability to a business that has grown beyond its initial single-adviser structure.
The team includes former Scotland international footballer Christophe Berra and former Team GB Olympic boxer Delicious Orie, both qualified financial advisers. It also draws on the expertise of Emmanuel Asuquo, a private wealth adviser, broadcaster and author working across finance and media.
Experience of professional sport can provide insight into some clients’ circumstances, but regulated financial advice still depends on appropriate qualifications, permissions and suitability assessments. Personal familiarity with an industry is not a substitute for professional standards or individual client analysis.
Athletes may earn substantial income for a comparatively short period, with injury, contract expiry or retirement altering the financial position quickly. Players who work in different countries may also need to consider residency and cross-border financial arrangements when making decisions about savings, protection and future employment.
Content creators face a different set of uncertainties. Revenue can arise from sponsorships, advertising, licensing and platform payments, while customer demand and commercial relationships may shift rapidly. In some cases, creators also operate their own businesses and require coordination between personal and business planning.
Skybound’s specialist division draws on tax expertise and its Cross-Border Support Desk, as well as the group’s Plume technology and MoneyMap forecasting tools. These resources can help advisers model changing financial circumstances while coordinating technical advice where several jurisdictions are involved.
The company says it has developed relationships involving Premier League and European clubs, international sporting agencies, boxing and media organisations. The extent of commercial revenue generated by those relationships has not been disclosed, and the announcement does not establish a specific number of clients acquired.
Mike Coady, chief executive of Skybound Wealth Management Group, said Proctor would lead the next phase of team and service development. The appointment signals greater managerial structure within the division, although its future results will depend on recruiting appropriately qualified advisers and attracting sustainable customer demand.
Proctor’s promotion is separate from Skybound’s recently announced Barcelona office. The office extends the group’s geographic presence in Spain, while the new leadership role concerns a specialist service supporting clients whose careers often cross national borders.
A specialist wealth advisory division must combine commercial recruitment with responsible client assessment. Athletes and creators may have periods of high earnings that make substantial investment decisions possible, but future income can be uncertain. Advisers need to understand liquidity, risk tolerance and the time horizon of individual clients, rather than relying on assumptions about a profession or lifestyle.
The expanded team’s sporting and media networks may help introduce potential clients, but referral relationships do not replace suitability requirements or ensure recurring revenue. Skybound’s leadership will need to support professional development, consistent service processes and supervision across advisers. Proctor’s responsibilities therefore involve building a sustainable operating model as well as establishing a recognisable specialist brand.
The new management structure may help coordinate advisers and commercial partnerships, but it does not change the obligation to provide suitable advice to individual clients. The division’s longer-term performance will depend on service quality, regulatory compliance, client relationships and the economics of its expansion.
