Signicat launches wallet hub for Europe

Signicat launches identity hub for Europe’s digital wallet transition ahead. The platform is designed to help businesses support new EU wallets, national eIDs, and related compliance requirements through one connection.

Signicat has launched its eID and Wallet Hub as European businesses prepare for overlapping changes in digital identity regulation. The company said the platform is built to support both the new EU Digital Identity Wallets under eIDAS 2.0 and the national electronic IDs that are already widely used across the region.

Businesses operating across Europe are being asked to support new EUDI Wallets, established national eIDs, and other identity verification methods including biometrics while also preparing for the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation. Signicat said this creates a need for parallel systems covering onboarding, identity verification, and fraud prevention, particularly for organisations working across multiple jurisdictions.

The eID and Wallet Hub is designed as a single connection point for those different routes. Signicat said businesses can verify users through both new wallets and existing national eIDs without building and maintaining separate integrations. The company added that the platform already processes more than 500 million transactions a year and is intended to help businesses manage regulatory change without replacing existing customer identity journeys all at once.

“For the next three years, digital identity in Europe will be organised chaos,” said Allard Keuter, Head of Authentication & Wallets at Signicat. “Businesses will be legally required to accept a new wallet that most of their customers don’t have yet, all while supporting the existing national and banking ID systems. We designed the hub because trying to manage that fragmentation internally would be a technical and financial burden for most companies.”

Signicat said a key feature of the platform is its hybrid infrastructure, which allows companies to source required data either directly from a user’s wallet or from Signicat’s network of connected eIDs and data sources. The EUDI Wallet is part of the EU’s digital decade programme, which targets 80% adoption by 2030 across a population of more than 450 million citizens. More on the eID and Wallet Hub is available on Signicat’s website.
