Roomex launches missed savings travel tool

Roomex wants travel buyers to see missed savings more clearly. Its new Insights Pro feature compares booking decisions against like-for-like options available at the time of search.

The platform is aimed squarely at a long-running problem for finance and procurement teams: proving whether travel spend was well controlled when booking decisions were made, rather than judging those decisions later with incomplete evidence. Roomex said Insights Pro uses search and booking data captured at the time, allowing companies to assess what was actually available rather than relying on hindsight.

The feature is split into two main views. “Actual Savings” measures savings achieved against other options available when the booking was made. “Potential Savings” highlights where a lower-cost hotel that matched the search on factors such as location, hotel rating, and cancellation terms was available, but a more expensive option was chosen instead. The company says that allows teams to identify overspend using like-for-like comparisons rather than broad averages.

Keith Watson, president at Roomex, said: “Businesses are under growing pressure to prove that travel spend is controlled, but those conversations often happen after the booking, without a clear record of what was available at the time. Insights Pro shows exactly what was available at the time when a decision was made. That gives finance teams confidence in the savings already achieved, and helps identify behaviours that can reduce costs further.”

Roomex said the tool also allows teams to prioritise findings by impact and drill down by city, hotel, policy, and individual booker. That is intended to support more targeted interventions, rather than blanket policy changes. In internal analysis, the company said some customers using its Savings Suite have saved an average of 18% on workforce travel, though that figure comes from Roomex’s own data.

Insights Pro is a paid upgrade to Roomex Insights, which is included for all Roomex customers. The company said the enhanced product costs £99 per month per company and adds ranked actions and more detailed breakdowns, while the standard version shows high-level savings totals.
