Opus Technology wins B Corp certification

Opus Technology secures B Corp status after a three-year process. The certification adds formal external validation to its ESG programme across operations, people policies, and environmental management.

The Surrey-based managed service provider said the certification was handled internally by Head of People Bridget Dale and Sustainability and Community Impact Manager Hannah O’Donnell. Opus said it is believed to be the UK’s second largest B Corp certified managed service provider.

The privately owned company employs around 150 people and serves more than 900 clients from its Reigate headquarters and London office. Its services include managed IT, contact centre, unified communications, business mobile, and managed print, and its client list includes Which?, AllSaints, Canon, and the CIPD.

B Corp certification assesses organisations across social and environmental performance, governance, and accountability, with recertification required every three years. Opus said the accreditation formalises a long-term commitment to workers, communities, customers, and the environment while it continues to pursue commercial growth.

The company said the certification comes as organisations face greater pressure to demonstrate sustainable and ethical supply chains, including the technology they buy and the partners they work with. It added that B Corp status gives stakeholders an externally audited benchmark rather than an internal sustainability statement alone.

Michael O’Donnell, CEO of Opus Technology, said: “Achieving B Corp certification is a significant milestone for Opus Technology and one that reflects the kind of business we are committed to building. Since beginning our official B Corp journey in 2023, we have continued to strengthen our approach across the business, with a clear focus on balancing commercial success with responsibility to our people, our communities and the environment.

“This certification is important because it formalises much of the work already happening across Opus every day. It also gives us a clear framework to keep improving, to stay accountable, and to make sure we continue growing in a responsible and sustainable way. Most importantly, this achievement reflects our people. The standards behind B Corp are brought to life through the way our teams work, support one another, and represent Opus Technology every day.”

Opus said its broader ESG work includes ISO 14001 environmental management accreditation, hybrid working, an electric-only company vehicle commitment, a carbon offsetting plan including tree planting, Living Wage employer status, Disability Confident Committed recognition, a staff volunteering initiative, and sponsorship of a research fellowship at Polar Bears International.

April’s UK dealmakers pursued scale, scarcity, and discounted valuations hard. Shell’s $16.4bn ARC deal led the month, while Intertek, Standard Life, Senior, and Advanced Medical Solutions showed buyers backing reserves, retirement assets, defence exposure, specialist healthcare, and undervalued UK-listed businesses.
